WCMJ Extra: In Conversation with Freelance Journalist Olivia Truffaut-Wong

It's an audio interview, not a podcast!

Hey everyone,

Excited to finally bring you a new Q&A format: audio!

My friend and former Bustle colleague, freelance journalist Olivia Truffaut-Wong, was kind enough to be the first to try this out with me. She’s a former Bustle entertainment editor who moved from NYC to Northern California during the pandemic and has been freelancing. In addition to Bustle, Olivia’s bylines have appeared in NBC News Think, Refinery29, The Dipp, Mental Floss, and more.

Olivia answered some questions about working in journalism in NYC vs. NorCal, going from working full-time to freelancing, job hunting during the pandemic, advocating for more diverse coverage, and more. She is also a Marvel expert and she has some great recommendations on what you should watch in the MCU.

I talked to Julianna Margulies about how her new #TheMorningShow romance compares to Doug and Carol (my first OTP ever) and Alicia and Will. I managed to keep my fangirling to a minimum.

And yes, as we joke at the end, we originally did record for a full hour, but this interview was edited for clarity and length.

Check it out below and let me know if you liked it!
