Factal, Breaking News Editor

We have two openings at Factal in the US right now, West Coast priority.

Factal is hiring an experienced journalist to join our Seattle-based newsroom to monitor and cover global breaking news stories in real time. We’re looking for a forward-thinking editor with experience in digital newsrooms, excited about the fast-paced world of breaking news, calm in high-stress environments and familiar with covering different regions of the world. This position would include weekend and evening shifts.

Seattle is preferred but remote candidates welcome, but must be based on the West Coast of the United States to accommodate evening hours.

Compensation: The base pay range for this role is $71,400 - $96,600.

Salish Current, Executive Director

Salish Current (Salish-Current.org) is a five-year-old, community-supported digital news organization serving a three-county area in Northwest Washington state — Whatcom, San Juan and Skagit counties. We provide freely accessible, fact-based, context-rich local news and community commentary, focusing on the environment, social justice, and culture.

The Executive Director (ED) will lead Salish Current in strategic growth, fundraising, and program development—deepening our editorial reach and positioning the organization as a regional knowledge hub. The ED will collaborate with board, staff, contractors, volunteers, and partners to sustain and grow our information, knowledge, and engagement programs— Salish Current news, knowledge presentations and discussions, and citizen journalist training.
