West Coast Media Jobs: Updated Mutual Aid LA Link and Another Journalism Opportunity
Hi everyone,
Thank you to those who let me know the Mutual Aid LA link was no longer working. I really appreciate it, because this situation keeps evolving. Sheila has sent an updated link and I’m sending it to you all: MALAN Fire & Wind Storm Resources: Available Resources. Thank you so much, Sheila! I have also updated the link in yesterday’s web edition.
I also wanted to send over an opportunity from the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley. Please see it below.
The Greater Good Science Center (GGSC) at UC Berkeley is excited to announce a new opportunity for content creators: grants for nonfiction projects exploring the many dimensions of love. Supported by the John Templeton Foundation, this initiative will fund two dozen journalists and media producers with grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000.
These projects will go beyond romantic love to explore love as a profound commitment to another person’s well-being—a selfless act of care and connection. We welcome proposals for articles, videos, podcasts, social media campaigns, and other forms of media that examine love from diverse angles.
Grantees will not only receive financial support but also access to leading scientific experts who will guide them in aligning their work with the science of love.
The application window opens January 7, 2025, and submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. PT on March 24, 2025. The grant period runs from September 1, 2025, to February 28, 2027.
Please stay safe.
