Are you looking for a full-time job? A new freelance gig? Well, the Quarterly Gig Seekers Thread is here to help.
Sent out quarterly on the 15th of January, April, July, and October, it works just like those Twitter threads that are designed to promote writers for hire: reply with a short pitch about who you are and what kind of work you’re looking for, whether it’s full-time, part-time, or freelance.
But this is a Substack thread, so that means unlike Twitter, there’s no character limit. Share a link to your portfolio. Talk more about your career goals. Link to a few pieces of work you’re proud of. Up to you.
Participation isn’t limited to subscribers or West Coast-based journalists. All are welcome. If you already posted in last month’s thread, feel free to post an update on what you’ve been up to or if you’re looking to cover new topics/beats.
The thread will be promoted via the newsletter and our social media all month…until the next thread arrives.
Hi folks! I'm Max Kozlov, a science journalist from Boston who's published in The Atlantic, Quanta Magazine, The Scientist, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (via a AAAS Mass Media Fellowship), and The Public's Radio. My background is in cognitive neuroscience, but I've written about everything from cloud physics to immigration.
I'm mainly looking for full-time science/environment/health/technology reporting gigs. I'd also consider freelance reporting/copyediting/fact-checking gigs. I also bring audio experience from working at RI's NPR member station and from working on an environmental podcast called Possibly.
Clips, more about me, and contact information is all on my website: maxkozlov.com.
Hello everyone! I'm Sarah White, an education and science writer based in the SF Bay Area. As a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at Discover Magazine, I covered psychology, science, and technology news. I also have experience creating effective social media posts at the intersection of science and entertainment for audiences of all ages.
I'm seeking full-time communications/PIO roles or freelance opportunities starting in August after I finish my PhD in Learning Sciences.

I'm looking for full-time roles and freelance opportunities and you can see my work both [https://jakesundstrom.substack.com/] and [https://www.jakesundstrom.com/].
I'm Katherine Abando, a Los Angeles-based journalist who's published in Dot.la, Rom-Com Fest, and the Body. My coverage interests are tech/startups, internet culture, and AAPI identity. I have written about an HIV bodybuilder/influencer and liquid enhancer startup founded by a nurse. Always looking to cover dating apps, Clubhouse, and AAPI entrepreneurs for a publication. Also, I have worked in the non-profit sector with social media, especially for the rent control ballot. Currently, I'm freelancing in the editorial and marketing side while looking for a full-time.
