For Students & Recent Grads: The Student Gig Seekers Board
Trying something new!
Lots of college and graduate students are graduating into the job market amid economic uncertainty this spring. Other students are on the hunt for summer internships in these economic times. There’s so much up in the air!
But here’s what I do know for sure: I have a lot of subscribers who are hiring managers and a lot who are students. And I thought this might be a good way to connect both groups.
If you’re a student or recent grad, you can add yourself to this board here: westcoastmediajobs.com/students password is summer2023 (all lowercase)
If you’re a hiring manager, please feel free to check out the board (which has student resumes and clips) using the same link and password.
The page is password-protected to protect the students and grads’ info from spambots.
Housekeeping: This newsletter will be taking a Spring Break on April 26, so there won’t be one sent out that Wednesday.
Request: I’m doing another article for NBCU Academy on journalists of color who have been able to find communities/circles of mentors, allies, etc. for support and how that’s been successful. If that sounds like you or someone you know who would be willing to chat for the story, please let me know! You can reply to this email and I’ll receive it.
From Digiday: Despite DEI promises, media companies are still mostly hiring white people
From NBCU Academy: Go on a ‘Stakeout’ with NBC News
From the Everyday Projects: Apply for the Everyday Projects 2023 grant for photographers around the world (Deadline is 5/8).
